Aasraa Trust Success Story: Raman

RAMAN

Born under a tarpaulin on the side of a riverbed, Raman was 4 years old when he joined the Aasraa after-school program held under the Bindal bridge. Raman was six when his father died, leaving him and 5 siblings without food to eat, in a shanty hut with no electricity, water or sanitation. Aasraa employed his mother as a maintenance staff at a school.

Determined to succeed, Raman moved into the Aasraa boy’s shelter with two of his brothers, studied and trained with complete focus and determination. He became Aasraa’s star athlete, competing at district level where he secured 1st place in both the 100 and 200-meter races. This success led him to compete at the state-level competition, earning 2nd place in the 100 meters and 3rd in the 200 meters. His daily dedication and practice lead to consistent improvement and he has represented Uttarakhand at the National level.

Raman's academic journey has been consistent. He achieved a commendable 72% in Class 10. He completed his Class 12 with 62% with Physics, Chemistry and Maths as his subjects.

Raman's true passion lies in sports. As our star athlete, he has brought immense pride to Aasraa Trust through his achievements. Raman has excelled in athletics, bringing home numerous medals and recently competing at the national level in the 100m sprint. His dedication is evident in his daily practice and consistent improvement, as he continues to break his own records.

Raman is actively engaged in regular athletic practice, which is significantly enhancing his strength and physical endurance. His primary goal is to gain admission to prestigious institutions like LNIPE Gwalior (Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education) and Delhi Sports University to pursue a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.). Raman believes that obtaining a B.P.Ed. will open doors to better career opportunities in the sports field, aligning perfectly with his passion and dedication. His commitment to sports has been a driving force in his journey so far.

Recognizing the importance of technology in today’s world, Raman is also working to balance his athletic pursuits with computer skills. He is currently learning computer applications at the Aasraa Skillability Centre, ensuring he stays well-rounded and prepared for the modern job market.

Each day, Raman dedicates time to athletic training, computer learning, and preparing for the CUET exam (Common University Entrance Test). His disciplined approach to balancing sports, academics, and skill development reflects his determination to achieve his goals and succeed in both his athletic and academic endeavors.

Raman's passion for sports, combined with his resilience and dedication, positions him to achieve remarkable success.
