Noida Deaf Society Success Stories

NDS reaches out to low-income deaf youth between the ages of 18 and 30 years old. Their goal is to have each student build techniques required to become self-sufficient and a part of mainstream society. They develop life skills for employment in varied fields, helping them focus on their abilities rather than their disability.

Manvi – Class 5

Manvi is an 11-year-old Deaf girl who comes from a humble Deaf family struggling with financial hardships. Her father works as a support staff member at Big Basket, while her mother is a homemaker. Despite limited means and educational opportunities, her family continues to support the dreams of both Manvi and her younger sister, who also studies at Noida Deaf Society (NDS).

Before joining NDS, Manvi studied at a deaf school in Ghaziabad, where the hearing teachers had little or minimal sign language skills. She often sat through classes without understanding what was being taught, which made her feel isolated and left behind. Gradually, this began to affect her confidence and interest in learning.

In 2024, Manvi joined NDS School in Class 3, and her life slowly began to change. For the first time, she could learn through sign language in an environment where she felt understood, included, and encouraged. Learning from Deaf teachers gave her confidence, happiness, and the belief that she too could achieve her dreams.

Today, Manvi dreams of becoming a teacher so she can inspire other Deaf children to value education and believe in their own potential. With continued support, children like Manvi can access not just education, but confidence, dignity, and hope for a brighter future.

Dinesh Khusba – Class 7

Dinesh Khusba, a 15-year-old deaf student currently studying in Class 7, lives with his family in a village in Ghaziabad. His father works as an electrician, while his mother works as supporting staff in a hospital. Despite financial hardships, both parents work tirelessly to provide a better future for their children.

Dinesh joined Noida Deaf Society (NDS) in KG in 2018, marking the beginning of his educational journey. At NDS, he learned through Indian Sign Language and quickly adapted to the inclusive and supportive environment. He enjoyed interacting with his classmates and actively participated in classroom activities.

Over the years, Dinesh has shown remarkable improvement in communication, confidence, and classroom participation. With the support of his teachers and peers, he has become more expressive, socially active, and enthusiastic about learning. The activity-based teaching methods and sign language-rich environment at NDS have helped him develop both academically and personally.

Dinesh is especially passionate about sports and enjoys playing cricket and actively participates in sports activities conducted at the school under the guidance of the sports teacher. Through these opportunities, he has developed teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence.

Dinesh shares, “I feel happy at NDS because my teachers and friends understand me. I would also like to thank CHFC for supporting my education at NDS.”

Today, Dinesh dreams of becoming a cricketer in the future and making his parents proud. His journey reflects the importance of inclusive education and the transformative impact of a supportive learning environment. With the continued support of NDS and his family, Dinesh is building a future filled with confidence, ambition and hope.

Riya – Class 5

Riya, an 18-year-old Deaf student currently studying in Class 5, lives with her family in a slum area in Noida. Her father works as a milkman, while her mother is a homemaker. She has two siblings, and despite financial challenges, her family continues to support her education.

In her early years, Riya attended a regular hearing school where lessons were taught only through oral communication. Due to the lack of sign language support, she struggled to understand classroom teaching and often felt isolated. During the COVID-19 lockdown, she remained out of school for nearly two years, which further affected her confidence and learning.

In 2025, Riya joined Noida Deaf Society (NDS) in Class 3. For the first time, she learned through Indian Sign Language in an inclusive and supportive environment. With continuous support from teachers and peers, she gradually became more confident, expressive and engaged in her studies.

Within a short period, Riya showed remarkable improvement in communication and classroom participation, progressing from Class 3 to Class 5. Today, she actively participates in school activities and dreams of becoming a makeup artist to support her family independently. “Thank you, NDS teachers and CHFC, for your kind support,” says Riya.

Her journey highlights the transformative impact of inclusive education and accessible communication.
